International curricula that satisfy the English Language Admission Standard
You may meet the English Language Admission Standard if you attended a school outside Canada that uses English as the language of instruction and falls into one of the following categories. If you attend a bilingual school, you will need to complete an English waiver request.

1. International Baccalaureate Diploma Program
You are currently completing the IB diploma program.
You have studied at a school that meets the above criteria for four years and are completing IB higher-level or standard-level English A1 or A2.
You’ve studied fewer than four years, but your final grade in IB English A1 or A2 is 5 or higher.

2. Council of international schools
Your school is an accredited member of the Council of International Schools.
You have studied at a school that meets the above criteria for four years and are completing the senior or Grade 12 level (non-ESL).
3. Schools that offer regionally accredited US curricula
Your school has appropriate US regional accreditation.
You have studied at a school that meets the above criteria for four years and are completing the senior or Grade 12 level (non-ESL).
You’ve studied fewer than four years, but your exam grade in Advanced Placement English Language & Composition or Literature & Composition is 4 or higher, or your final grade in IB English A1 and A2, higher-level or standard-level, is 5 or higher.

4. Schools that offer full Canadian curricula
Your school is provincially authorized to offer the Canadian high school curricula.
You have studied at a school that meets the above criteria for four years and have completed the senior or Grade 12 level (non-ESL).
You’ve studied fewer than four years, but your exam grade in Advanced Placement English Language & Composition or Literature & Composition is 4 or higher, or your final grade in IB English A1 or A2, higher-level or standard-level, is 5 or higher.
5. British curriculum (A Levels and GCSEs)
You achieved a final grade of A or B in A Level English Language or English Literature (non-ESL). The General Paper does not count.
6. Indian secondary school curricula
You have achieved a minimum grade of 75% (Indian grading scale) on your senior English subject. UBC will use interim grades (e.g., pre-board exam results) if you are currently attending secondary school. UBC will use final Class XII grades if you’ve graduated from secondary school.
Your school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education or the Council for the Indian School Certificate.
You are pursuing or have completed the curriculum leading to either the Indian Senior School Certificate (SSC) or the Indian School Certificate (ISC).
UBC reserves the right to exclude schools from exemption.
ELAS waiver request process
If you do not meet UBC’s English Language Admission Standard but believe that you have the proficiency of a native English speaker, you may request to have the requirement waived.

Your waiver request must include:

Your student number and full name.
A brief letter explaining why you believe the requirement should be waived.
A letter of recommendation from your school’s English teacher, guidance counsellor, principal, or headmaster, which attests that your level of English proficiency is close to or equal to that of a native speaker. The recommendation should be submitted via email and include the writer’s contact information (phone number and email address preferred).
A transcript of grades, including courses in progress and anticipated grades. This transcript must be emailed by your school, together with their recommendation, to elas.waivers@ubc.ca. Please ensure that your school mentions your full name and student number in the subject of their email.
You may also include any additional evidence demonstrating your English competence, such as achievement test scores (e.g., Scholastic Aptitude Test [SAT] scores).

Please note: Completed waiver request packages must be emailed to elas.waivers@ubc.ca by February 15. We strongly suggest that you try to meet the requirement through one of the specified means, in case your waiver request cannot be granted.

A competitive university like UBC receives more applications than offers it can give out. UBC wishs to admit all qualified applicants, but UBC just doesn’t have space. Make sure you know how to park on hills. It’ll come up in New West.

Yep, shoulder checks are absolutely key. I didn’t do enough of them on my first try, but made a specific point to do a lot of them on the second go and I got it.

Shoulder check in spots you wouldn’t think of, like when they ask you to pull over and park, shoulder check before pulling over, shoulder check before you open your door. Be very strict about the speed limit especially around a school zone. And remember to turn your tires into the curb when parking downhill and away from the curb when parking uphill.

Just go ham on those shoulder checks and you’ll probably be just fine!

發現得太晚，超過7成病患確定診斷時，已是擴散期，而且96％不適合手術治療
癌細胞增生快，30天可以增加1倍，疾病惡化得很快

復發機率高，即使接受化學治療有反應，可是癌細胞分裂快速，會快速產生抗藥性，大部分病人會在6～12個月內復發

小細胞肺癌過去20年僅有化療  2019年後化療併用免疫療法突破瓶頸
台大醫院雲林分院胸腔內科陳崇裕醫師表示，小細胞肺癌在過去20年僅有化療可用，一旦化療失效，病人將面臨無藥可用的窘境。以台大雲林分院近5年小細胞肺癌88位病人統計，超過七成病人確診時癌細胞已經擴散轉移，「這些病人要不放棄治療；即使做了化學治療，平均存活期只有4.9個月。」

幸好，近年免疫治療藥物的出現，開啟了小細胞肺癌的治療新契機，不僅能加強化療的治療效果，也可延長有效治療的時間，避免或延緩病症惡化。

研究顯示，小細胞肺癌患者接受傳統化療，近6成患者無法存活超過1年，但若合併免疫療法，約1/3患者存活可超過1年半。因此，無論是侷限型或擴散型小細胞肺癌，目前醫界普遍共識是化療和免疫療法併用，且免疫療法提早使用，以利病症獲得更好的控制。
根據已發表的臨床試驗結果，對小細胞肺癌治療有效的2種免疫治療藥物是Atezolizumab和Durvalumab，前者已通過衛福部核准使用。每個月藥費約需15萬，建議持續使用。

癮君子　是小細胞肺癌高危險群
台灣肺癌學會理事長陳育民醫師表示，小細胞肺癌主要和吸菸有關，因此長期抽菸、有肺炎家族病史等高危險族群，建議定期做低劑量電腦斷層篩檢，並戒除菸酒。

近年肺癌治療已走向精準化和個人化醫療，非小細胞癌、尤其是肺腺癌患者受惠於醫藥快速進展，擁有多種化療、標靶藥物和免疫治療藥物的使用機會，現在連長期沒有新藥的小細胞肺癌，化療併用免疫療法證實能夠控制病情，希望癌友不要放棄希望，勇敢與醫師討論，找出適合自己的理想治療方案。他也呼籲政府可將小細胞肺癌的免疫治療納入健保給付，以嘉惠更多的病友。

3.6 关于高速公路驾驶（5级考试重点）

（1）驶入 MERGE 当驶入高速公路入口时， 首先看到的是黄色 MERGE 标志，此时你要提速至限速，一般是80公里，同时给左转信号， 通过后视镜观察左后侧车辆， SHOUDER CHECK等待合适的切入时机，迅速并入高速行车道。如果实在并不进去再减速等候，一般这种情况不会发生，别人会给你机会并线的，如果你是正在高速行驶， 而别人在等待 MERGE， 你也要松油门，给人家并入的机会，如果你不让，导致别人无法并入，也视为危险动作。

（2）驶出 EXIT 当驶离高速时， 首先看到出口标志，然口看到虚线时给信号准备并线， 不要忘了看后视镜和SHOULDER CHECK， 一般在出口不远处，就有黄色速度标志，这是建议车速，不一定要按照此速度驾驶， 根据具体情况， 如果你的速度较快，又有后续车辆跟随驶出， 你的速度不能一下子减下来， 在进入市区道路之前减到50 就可以了。

（3）保持车距 在高速路上，你和你前方的车辆要至少保持2个车距或三秒以上的距离，距离太近视为危险动作。

3.7 关于方向盘

不要单手打方向，（倒车时允许）， 倒方向时一定记得换手， HAND OVER HAND， 不要套着打轮。

3.8 关于考试

（1）考试之前， 把驾驶座位出的车窗摇下， 按照考官要求依次亮：远灯 HIGH BEAM，大灯 HEADLIGHT， 近灯LOW BEAM， 刹车灯 BREAK，事故灯 EMERGENCY LIGHT 雨刷器 WINDSIELD WIPER ，以及左右转及停车手势，之后就可以开始考试了。

（2）在天气不好或天色暗时， 要记得打开大灯 HEADLIGHT， 这样， 你车后的尾灯 TAIL LIGHT才会亮，避免后车追尾，该开大灯时没开，也视为危险动作。

（3）考试之后 考试过程中，考官会在纸上记下你的危险动作， 小的危险动作不超过三个， 大的危险动作一个也不能有，就算合格。如果第一次不及格 FAIL， 一周后可以在考，第二次FAIL，要等两周后再考。

（4）端正态度 不要试图跟考官套磁，或者说， MY ENGLISH IS POOR 之类的话， 考官绝不会因为你英语不好或嘴甜或施美人计就放你一马， 搞不好还会低看你， 废话少说，把上述动作练好，就一定能过。

来自考牌官的路考Tips

路考前

若你持有本省外的驾驶执照，必须在路考前交出。一旦你尝试参加路考，驾驶豁免期就结束了。

在路考期间必须关闭所有行车记录仪和GPS设备。

若你有任何问题（例如之前的路考错误等），最好在路考开始前提问。

路考中

考官不会在路考期间欺骗你，你不会被要求做任何违法的事。

你将会受到很多关于转弯的指令。如果你错过了路口，继续安全驾驶。如果有必要，考官将会给你新的指令。

除了给出指令，考官将可能保持沉默。如果你不喜欢安静，你可以提出打开音响。

当我们对你的车辆进行了安全检查后，路考开始。

路考全程你有责任调节除雾器，风扇和/或雨刷以确保一个清晰的360度视野。

几乎所有的危险都是可以预见的，因此，总是向前看并尽可能多地收集信息避免冲突。

行驶中的时机间隙（例如转向，换线等）希望能安全和平稳地完成。许多司机因为犹豫不决或过于咄咄逼人而受罚。

观察和遵守所有交通标志（例如学校，操场和建筑施工区；限制转弯，车道等）和所有标线（例如停车线，白实线，自行车线，转弯线等）。

按限速标志行驶，除了超速行驶，许多驾驶者在低风险情况下开得太慢也受罚。询问考官关于驾驶太慢或超速的例子。

阅读路试评分表有困难？评分表的副本附有解释。你也可以要求考官说明。

如果你的7级路考失败，你最快可以在两周后重考。如果你的5级考试第一次失败，你最快可以在一周后重考；之后你必须等待在两周后重考。

如果你的7级学习驾照过期，你需要重新进行理论知识测试，但你不需要再等待一年参加路考。

如果你有时间和愿意在我们的办公室等候，我们会尽力为你提供备用路考（Standby）先到先得。然而，最早的考试日期限制仍然适用。请注意在周末我们不进行路考。

安全驾驶需要不断的努力。知识，重质培训，积累经验和正确态度是驶向成功的重要组成部分。
